The bakery goods produced in the kitchen of the Vocational School of Social Sciences Hotel Restaurant and Catering Services Department were tasted by the guests.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karadağ indicated that Yozgat Bozok University has been selected as a specializing university in industrial hemp field on 23 January and as a mission, the aim is to bring the whole biomass of hemp to the industry. Our Rector Karadağ said, “The Council of Higher Education (YOK) has given a mission to us which is to bring the whole biomass of hemp to the industry. In this frame, we immediately started to work. We have created research groups to guide the academic members of our university in this field. We previously produced hemp-based materials in the field of cleaning and cosmetics, and building materials. As of the point we have reached, we know that hemp has a wide range of uses, from textile to food, from cosmetics to pharmaceutical raw materials. We can obtain more than 2 thousand products from hemp. Alhough hemp brings a very serious input to the economy worldwide in this sense, there is no advanced study in our country on bringing hemp to the economy. In this frame, as a university specializing in industrial hemp, we started to work on bringing hemp biomass to the economy. Today, we are sharing our studies with you on bringing hemp seeds and hemp flour from the seed to the economy in the food industry. As a result of the work of our members in the culinary program, we produced goods that will appeal to the food sector such as bread, pastry and cake with high nutritional value by using hemp seeds and hemp flour. In this context, we believe that if we utilize hemp in the food sector as in other fields, we can contribute to the regional development oriented economy. In this context, I would like to thank all my friends who have contributed to us. ”
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karadağ stated that hemp is a plant that this geography is familiar with but has not been brought into the economy yet and said: “As a specializing university, we wanted to finalize this mission immediately before our global budget was formed. As I mentioned, we created awareness with the products we made in many areas. We have produced soaps with antibacterial hemp oil and completely hygienic, natural products as building materials. As of today, obtaining bread and bread derivatives means that we will come up with new products in the field of hemp in different sectors. In our next stages, we will produce goods for the utilization of hemp in textile, military construction materials, and all areas of construction and construction materials. In addition to carrying out studies in this field, making products that will appeal to the energy sector excites us much more. Therefore, we try to improve continuously and increase our product range in terms of bringing hemp to the economy in the short and long term. Today, we plan to come up with food and in the future, construction or other products of that sector. We hope to present you hemp-based products that will appeal to the energy sector within an average of 2-3 years in the upcoming years. ”
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karadağ emphasized that the products made with hemp by Yozgat Bozok University started to bring together industrialists and entrepreneurs, and said: “Our dream is to make our products add value to the region and contribute to a regional development-oriented economy in medium or large-scale factories located in this sector. The infrastructure for this is now ready. Preliminary studies of this have been completed. Various protocols related have been signed. Hopefully, in the next step, we will carry out the process of bringing industrial hemp into the economy especially for Yozgat Bozok University and we are doing so right now.”
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karadağ stated that bread is an indispensable food source of Anatolia and said, “Our aim is to bring the properties of hemp seeds to the health benefits of bread and pastry types. The bread we produce has a feature that we can call it diet bread, which has high nutritional value, protein and fiber ratio and therefore you can get enough with less bread. We want to create awareness by carrying hemp to food products as our specialty. If our restaurants and bakeries operating in this sector in Yozgat have such demands, we are more than eager. Our chefs are ready to contribute to them but we have only one dream. Why not deploy a medium-sized factory in Yozgat appealing to this sector? Why not having marketed products not only in our region, but also for all areas of Turkey? There is currently bread being sold on the market. Hemp-based bread can be among them. I think we will make an important contribution both in terms of health and awareness, and, we can use hemp in this sector and bring it to the economy in the food sector. In this regard, we would like to call the owners of the food sector to Yozgat. We would like to invite companies interested in this sector in the corporate sense. They can establish a factory in Yozgat where Yozgat Bozok University is located. By this way, hemp-based bread can be introduced to Turkey.”
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karadağ continued his words: “Yozgat Bozok University adds value to its region, country and humanity. As a specializing university, we are in the effort of fulfilling our duty. I would like to thank all my friends for contributing to this project. ”
